1 Timothy 6:11-21 Keep The Course, Timothy

Paul closes this letter to Timothy with an encouragement to keep the course, fight the good fight of the faith. This implies that the Christian life in general, and Christian Ministry in particular is fraught with cultural obstacles.

1 Timothy 6:1-10 Bondservants And False Teachers

After instructing Timothy about the relationship between masters and bondservants, Paul brings up the danger of false teachers, again. He is really concerned about false teachers in the church, as we should be also.

1 Timothy 5:17-25 Elders: Remuneration and Evaluation

Paul instructs Timothy (and the Church) about the responsibility of the church to fairly compensate the teaching/preaching elder. Then about the responsibility to fairly evaluate any charges brought against an elder.

1 Timothy 4:11-16 Command And Teach These Things

Once again, Paul urges Timothy to teach the doctrine he has been taught from his youth and from Paul. Paul is very concerned with the doctrine that Timothy is to teach, and model. Pastors today should take up this same challenge – to preserve the Apostolic doctrine once delivered to the saints.

1 Timothy 3:8-16 Deacons & the Mystery of Godliness

Paul instructs Timothy who the candidates for deacons should be. This is very similar to the qualifications for elders. At the close of the chapter he mentions the “mystery of godliness.” This is very interesting. What is the mystery of godliness?

1 Timothy 3:1-7 A Look At Elders

In the structure of the Church, the office of the Elder is primary. In this section Paul instructs Timothy what to look for in the men who could qualify for this office.

1 Timothy 2:8-15 Men & Women In Church

Much of what Paul teaches Timothy in this letter has to do with the conduct of men and women in Church, and in society at large. He starts here with prayer and humility.
