Acts 2:25-41 Peter’s Sermon

The Pentecost sermon in which 3,000 souls were added to the Church. How did Peter do that? Can it be repeated today? Yes, but not by men, by the Holy Spirit.

Acts 26:27-28:10 Paul’s Journey to Rome

“Men, you should have listened to me …” God told Paul that he would testify about Him in Rome, and to Caesar. But the way to Rome was paved with difficulty, even across the Mediterranean Sea. This portion of Scripture chronicles that journey.

Acts 25:1-26:29 Paul in Court with Festus and Agrippa

Paul is not only a master of Theology, he has an acute knowledge of Roman law and procedure. In this episode he maneuvers the court to get him to Rome in fulfillment of the declaration of Jesus in Acts 23:11. It is amusing to watch him manipulate the courts in his favor.

Acts 22:30-24:27 From Jerusalem to Caesarea

Paul confronts his accusers in Jerusalem and violence breaks out (again). The Roman Tribune, needing to save Paul, sends him to the Governor, Felix, in Caesarea. Felix calls a court, sort of, to hear the case, but decides to postpone it for another day. Lots of intrigue in this story!

Acts 21:15-22:30 Paul Is In Trouble

The prophets earlier warned Paul against going to Jerusalem, But God wanted him to go there. Sure enough, trouble came from some Jews who followed him from Asia (Jews who did not believe Jesus is the Messiah). Paul did not start the trouble, but he is in the midst of it, again.

Acts 20:1-38 Paul is Moving’ On

Paul is in the closing push of his third Missionary journey. Here is the closing of the ministry in Ephesus and the surrounding regions. He sets his sights on Jerusalem. He does tarry long enough to raise a young man from death to life.

Acts 19:21-41 The Riot in Ephesus

Once again the town is in an uproar because of the teaching of Paul. This time not from the Jews, but from some of the business people. They believe that if Paul is successful in making converts their trade of making idols and figurines will suffer great financial loss. They incite a riot. What does […]

Acts 19:11-20 The Seven Sons of Sceva

In my opinion, this is one of the most entertaining stories in the Book of Acts, if not in the whole of Scripture. The Name of Jesus is not a magical incantation as these men will learn. Why are there so many today who treat is as such?

Acts 18:24-19:10 To Ephesus and Asia

A Jew named Apollos? We meet Apollos and remark on his humility. Paul travels to Ephesus during this, his third Missionary Journey. He stays there nearly three years with the result that the word of the Lord is carried to all the residents of Asia.
