Philippians 4:10-23 The Art of Giving and Receiving
Closing this letter, the Apostle Paul thanks the church for their support through the years. Whenever Paul writes on this subject it seems uncomfortable for him. He is grateful for their gifts to him, but he is more grateful for the maturity evidenced by their giving.
Philippians 4:8-9 Forming a Godly Character
In every book of the Bible God instructs us what a Godly character looks like; and He expects His children to build that in their own individual lives. In this passage we look at eight marks of a Godly person.
Philippians 4:1-7 A Prescription for Peace
Finally, Paul mentions the problem plaguing the church at Philippi. It is a couple of ladies who have an interpersonal conflict. He exhorts them to “Stop it!” and instructs them how and why. Then he gives list of commands, when, if followed, will bring unimaginable peace individually and to the church.
Philippians 3:16-21 Growing and Maturing
Paul encourages the Church in Philippi to continue to learn and grow. Today we talk about what that looks like in the life of a believer in Jesus as the Messiah.
Philippians 3:12-16 The Transformed Life
With the understanding that the advantage of his heritage, his education, and his zeal are all for naught in the arena of gaining salvation, Paul now describes the true transformed life.
Philippians 3:4-11 Paul (Saul) Throws It All Away
What is it worth to you to “know Jesus”? For the Apostle Paul that knowledge was worth more than anything in the world. Saul was on track to “get” all that the world had to offer, but God. An encounter with Jesus changed everything for him. Let’s explore this.
Philippians 3:1-3 Repetition is Beneficial
It cannot be stressed too much to be on guard against false teachers. In Paul’s day as in ours there are false teachers “on every street corner.” Repetition in sound teaching is necessary and beneficial for the saints.
Philippians 2:19-30 Timothy and Epaphroditus
Paul rejoins the narrative which he left off at chapter 1:26. Here he discusses the ministry help offered and received by Timothy and Epaphroditus, and the reason for sending Epaphroditus back to them along with his own plan to visit them.
Philippians 2:14-18 Grumbling and Disputing
This passage offers a hint of the problem that is plaguing this church. Grumbling and disputing are unbecoming for a disciple of Jesus the Christ; it is characteristic of the world, not the Church.
Philippians 2:12-13 To Will and To Work
“… to will and to work for his good pleasure.” What does Paul mean by this, and how does it fit the context of the Scriptures and of your life? Today we gain new insights about being a disciple of Christ.
