Overview of Genesis
We have considered several foundational studies in the Book of Genesis, Today we wrap it up with a survey of the entire book. We look closer at a few topics of special interest to me.

“By faith Abraham, when he was tested, …” (Heb 11:17 ESV). “After these things God tested Abraham …” (Gen 22:1 ESV). I don’t know if anyone has ever been tested as severely as Abraham, with the possible exception of Job. Join us as we examine the history of his test, and how he passed it.
1 Thessalonians 2:9-16 Growing In Difficult Days
Paul reminds the church that it is the Gospel of God, the Word of God, faithfully proclaimed by a man of God, that helps to produce growth in difficult days. We notice that even the Apostle himself is growing in the holiness of God over time.

We go back to Genesis and look at the life of Abraham and Sarah after God made the promise of a child to them. What was it like to live 25 years without seeing the promised child? How did the faith of Abraham and Sarah grow and develop? Let’s examine this.
Covenants
In our study of the Pentateuch, today we introduce the Biblical Covenants God made. The Covenants of God are foundational to our study of the relationship between God and Man.

Paul reminds the people of the success in planting the church in Thessalonica, even in the midst of much opposition. It helps to go back to the beginning and refresh our memories of actual events so we can be assured of the purpose of God in the midst of trials or uncertain times.

Continuing the narrative of great faith in action, the author now takes up the legacy of Abraham. Over the next two weeks we will see how Abraham (and Sarah) persevered in their faith, at times under duress.
