2 Peter 1:5-11 Building Blocks Toward Piety

This portion of 2 Peter is worth memorizing, if not every word, at least every concept and step. This is getting down to ‘brass tacks.’ This is the mandatory process of living holiness, which is pleasing to God.

Prophecies of Christ

In this sermon we consider a few of the OT prophecies of Christ, and their fulfillment. [In the recording I mention Ahaz as a King in Israel. He was a King in Judah.]

Colossians 3:1-4 Above the Fray

Living above the fray. This begins the practical portion of Paul’s letter to the Church. This portion instructs us how to “live above the fray” of the world. This his critical in the Christian life. Let’s dig in.

Colossians 2:16-23 Christ Alone

Given all that Paul has taught about the Nature and Person of Jesus the Messiah, some still think it necessary to add to the work accomplished on the cross for their salvation. Paul demolishes those arguments in this passage.

1 Peter 5:1-5 Church Organization and Responsibilities

In this passage Peter gives distinction to church officers with their responsibilities and stature. He then addresses the younger, theologically and chronologically, as to their responsibility. He then extols humility and forbearance to all.

1 Peter 4:19 Etcetera

We start with an essay by the esteemed Greek scholar, Dr. Bill Mounce on 1Peter 4:19. From that we wander into a lesson on translation, the doctrines of man, salvation, and the resurrection of the saints. This is fun.

Colossians 2:10 Complete In Him

This is an expansion on the study last week of what it means to be “complete” in Christ. We will go to 1 Corinthians 1:30 for depth in this study. I will also be referencing the excellent commentary by Albert Barnes.
