Hebrews 1:1-4 The Supremacy of Jesus the Christ

These verses serve as an outline, or thesis statement, for the whole of the book of Hebrews. The author puts forth his thesis, and from here he sill begin to defend this in the next several chapters.

Acts 12:1-25 James, Peter and Herod Agrippa

Hard times come to the Church in Jerusalem. James the Apostle is murdered by Herod Agrippa and Peter is arrested, facing the same fate. But God,… Peter is rescued by an Angel and Herod is deposed by God.

Introduction to Hebrews

Today we begin a study through the book of Hebrews. Who wrote this book? and who did they write to? and why did they write this book? These are the questions we will explore to day in this short introduction.

2 John1:1-3 Establishing the Truth

In the first epistle of John one of the key words was love. In this short letter John uses the word ‘truth’ fairly extensively. In this first lesson we will establish the truth as John uses the word.

Philippians 4:10-23 The Art of Giving and Receiving

Closing this letter, the Apostle Paul thanks the church for their support through the years. Whenever Paul writes on this subject it seems uncomfortable for him. He is grateful for their gifts to him, but he is more grateful for the maturity evidenced by their giving.

Acts 11:1-26 Peter Returns to Jerusalem – Yikes!

Whatever Peter was expecting as he returned from raising a dead woman in Joppa and conducting a successful evangelistic campaign in Caesarea, it probably did not include the grilling he received. This might be the first potential “Church split.”

1 John 5:13-21 Summary of the Book

In this passage, the Apostle John summarizes the whole of this epistle. He lists four items we know for sure, and states unequivocally that Jesus the Messiah is God. This episode is a little longer, but I wanted to finish this study.
