Once again the town is in an uproar because of the teaching of Paul. This time not from the Jews, but from some of the business people. They believe that if Paul is successful in making converts their trade of making idols and figurines will suffer great financial loss. They incite a riot. What does this tell us about the effect of the Church on Society?

In this section Micah informs the people of Israel of the coming judgment on both the Northern and the Southern Kingdoms. He emphasizes the Sovereign Right of God to bring this judgment based on the the terms of the Covenant, which the people have broken.

Micah was contemporary with Isaiah and Hosea and prophesied to both the Northern Kingdom (Israel) and the Southern Kingdom (Judah). In this lesson we get a basic introduction to the world of Micah to set the stage for the remainder of the book.

This passage of Scripture elicits a lot of disagreement among Bible Commentators. I will present my understanding of it, and the reason, in context, for my interpretation.

Why is it so important to get beyond the fundamentals of the faith? Why isn't "just Judaism" (or the Old Testament) enough? In these few verses the author begins this discussion, and will continue it for a lengthy deliberation.
