The author of Hebrews has to take a break from his main thesis here in order to tell the audience bluntly that they have lost their way and neglected the greater pursuit for the lowly one. Join us to examine whether we might be in the same danger.

Leaving Thessalonica Paul goes to Berea and then on to Athens. In both of these cities he is able to convince many from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah. He does not have as much trouble as he has experienced before, but he still moves on pretty quickly.

This is the meat of this letter. Paul challenges his friend and co-laborer in the gospel, Philemon, to examine a specific area of his life to see if it is in accord with a Kingdom Worldview. By extension, Paul asks us to examine our lives closely to determine if we are harboring "worldly" views that need to be altered.

Today we examine the nature and function of our Great High Priest. We consider not only His work, but our responsibility to Him.

Paul and Silas (and maybe a few others) start their great adventure. God redirects their route twice, and they finally end up in Philippi. Luke joins them, a gentile woman worshipping with some Jewish women is born again, a demon is cast out of a young woman, Paul & Silas are beaten and imprisoned and the Jailer is born again. A pretty successful trip thus far!
