Colossians 2:8 Philosophy & Empty Deceit

Philosophy is not a word we talk about very much in Church. Maybe we should. The “Church” has neglected weighty conversations for too long, we are not going to survive if we don’t get smarter and tougher, more resilient.

Colossians 2:6-7 Standing Fast

The primary message of the book of Colossians is the primacy and supremacy of Christ. In this passage Paul begins to instruct the church about the necessity of standing fast in Christ, in the faith, when strange and false teachings are being presented.

Colossians 1:29-2:5 The Knowledge of God’s Mystery

Church without Jesus, the Biblical Jesus, is a waste of time. Paul is making the case for proclaiming Jesus and teaching doctrine. If the Church is not Jesus centered, then doctrine is likely to be sabotaged.

Colossians 1:28-29 Proclaim Christ

The primary mission of the Church, and thus the teaching elder(s), is to proclaim Christ. Proclaim the gospel, and teach biblical doctrine. Any and all else is not necessary, and not helpful.

Colossians 4:25-27 The Fullness of the Gospel

Paul mentions the full knowledge of God’s will in verse 1:9, and in verse 1:25 he mentions his responsibility to fully preach the word of God (LSB). Are these related, and what is he talking about. That’s our topic today.

Colossians 1:23 The Meaning of “If”

It sounds like a silly statement, “The Meaning of “If”.” But it’s not, in this verse. We are going to explore the meaning of ‘if’, then discuss the ramifications. It should be fun!
