Colossians 3:1-17 The New You — All Together Now

Today we do a summary of Colossians 3:1-17 to put it all together. The instruction Paul gives here is as important today as it was when he wrote it. The Church is failing our society and the culture is infecting the Church. Let’s get back to the basics.

Colossians 3:5-10 Old Self, New Self

Paul has moved from the doctrinal portion of his letter to the practical. Notice in this passage how many times he references putting off the old self in favor of putting on the new self, like changing a garment. Follow along as we ‘flesh’ this process out.

Colossians 3:1-4 Above the Fray

Living above the fray. This begins the practical portion of Paul’s letter to the Church. This portion instructs us how to “live above the fray” of the world. This his critical in the Christian life. Let’s dig in.

Colossians 2:16-23 Christ Alone

Given all that Paul has taught about the Nature and Person of Jesus the Messiah, some still think it necessary to add to the work accomplished on the cross for their salvation. Paul demolishes those arguments in this passage.

Colossians 2:10 Complete In Him

This is an expansion on the study last week of what it means to be “complete” in Christ. We will go to 1 Corinthians 1:30 for depth in this study. I will also be referencing the excellent commentary by Albert Barnes.

Colossians 2:9-10 Truly God, Truly Man

Can one letter in a word really make that much difference? Does it matter if two different Greek words are translated by the same English word? Yes, a letter can change things; yes, word translation can matter. These are examples.
