This is the meat of this letter. Paul challenges his friend and co-laborer in the gospel, Philemon, to examine a specific area of his life to see if it is in accord with a Kingdom Worldview. By extension, Paul asks us to examine our lives closely to determine if we are harboring "worldly" views that need to be altered.

Today we examine the nature and function of our Great High Priest. We consider not only His work, but our responsibility to Him.

Paul and Silas (and maybe a few others) start their great adventure. God redirects their route twice, and they finally end up in Philippi. Luke joins them, a gentile woman worshipping with some Jewish women is born again, a demon is cast out of a young woman, Paul & Silas are beaten and imprisoned and the Jailer is born again. A pretty successful trip thus far!

The conclusion of this epistle. Paul refers back (presumably) to the false teachers and points out that their teaching is unprofitable and worthless. This is the topic we spend time on in this study - what is profitable and worthy teaching?

In this text we have a warning against complacency in the Church taken from the history of Israel in the wilderness, and an encouragement to persevere in our faith in order to enter His Rest.
